Hi Andy,
I'm afraid you will probably need to get a hold of the person who programmed the board. The flashing lights happen after the primary bootup before KFLOP jumps into the main firmware and User code. It sounds like somehow the main firmware and User programs somehow are corrupted. There is a way using our KMotion.exe executive program to perform a "Flash Recovery" to restore the main firmware. If you do this the board will probably then connect to the PC but if you don't have the required User Programs your system will still not function. You can try this without loosing anything by performing the Recovery but NOT Flashing anything. The boot Recovery loads a version of firmware from the PC into KFLOP's RAM and does not alter any Flash memory, so if you cycle power and reboot from Flash you will be back to the same state you are now, but you will know the Laptop and KFLOP hardware is good and can
communicate. Normally after the recovery loads a version into RAM and is running and communicating with the PC, the next step would be to Flash a Version or User Programs to the board, but as I said in this case I would not do this before talking to the person who programmed the board. You might also try removing all connectors from the KFLOP board except the USB to see if you get the same results to eliminate the odd chance that something in the hardware is causing the communication problem.
Sorry for not having a simple solution. Good Luck.

Thanks for the info. That is kind of what I suspected. Forgive my ignorance but what is the step by step process to try the recovery but NOT flash using the KMotion.exe if the board isn't talking via USB. I tried running the kmotion software to check version etc and it said no board connected?
Cheers

I tried with all connectors unplugged except USB and no difference.
Just trying to find if I have the user program for flashing on my pc already as back up.

With power to KFLOP switched off go to the KMotion Config Flash Screen and push "Recovery".
Push OK after the warning.
Select the Firmware .out file you wish loaded to RAM (use the default shown).
Follow the prompts.

Hi there Tom,
I just tried that and after it goes through the upload process (green bar shows full progress it gives a an error "timeout establishing bootloader connection"........... any thoughts?

Hi Andy,
Hmm not what I expected. You did apply power as directed correct? The green bar doesn't actually indicate any uploading. That is just the time allowed for you to apply power and for the USB device to go active. If the green bar goes finishes it means either you never applied power or the USB device never connected for some reason. WIth KFLOP connected what shows up in Windows Device Manager under USB Devices? Have you tried a different computer? Do you know if the User Program turns off one of the LEDs when running normally? If your PC is ok that would unfortunately indicate that the KFLOP is somehow unrecoverable.

Hi Tom,
Luckily I managed to get hold of the programer and I believe one of the LEDS may turn off after boot. On his suggestion I tried the Kflop with external power, not USb and still no connection with computer. I also tried connecting to my laptop (win 7 64 bit) but nothing happens there either. No attempt for USB to connect. Also tried different USB cable with no effect.
So I guess I can only assume that something on the board is fried. And the only possible event that seems like it could have caused that is the controlling netbook's power running out, which in itself is alarming as my use of the kflop board is in a system used outdoors a lot where the likelihood of battery failure is always present despite our best efforts to avoid it.
Best
